Given black paper and color chalk our task was to draw a peppermint candy, in the wrapper. Hearing what we had to do sounded easy but doing in was a whole nother thing. I picked the colors green and red because peppermints make me think of Christmas and when I think of Christmas I think of the Grinch. The chalk was messy and there was powder all over the table and floor, not to mention my hands. It's hard to layer colors because whatever color you used before dulled out and I could only blend so much before it dulled out and I needed to add more color. I would probably use the chalk again for a project but much bigger because it's difficult to add details with the chalk that we had on the scale that we were drawing on.
The last one... Oil Pastels! I like using oil pastels because the the colors I can create. The layering while using oil pastels isn't terrible but the colors tend to get on the pastel itself which is annoying to constantly clean off. We drew Jolly Ranchers and of course I got apple. The wrapper on all of these drawings were difficult but this on to me was easier. I'm not sure why but I had the lighter green to help bring out the highlights at the top of the Jolly Rancher, I also used a white oil pastel too. |
