For this project we were given two artist and had to research and paint in their style. I researched David Hockney and just fell in love with his work. He is a pop and modern artist (still alive today), and is in love with L.A pools. I very much liked reading about David's life and how he became an artist. I find his and many other artists lives interesting. He did an oil piece called A Bigger Splash in 1967. David Hockney is my inspiration as the poolside was his, I model my painting after that but used acrylic paint and added a person in the water.
A challenge I came across was at first, I wasn't exactly sure how I wanted paint the person in the water. After watching others draw and me myself drawing many feet I think I got it. Stroke by stroke I added more paint to the canvas to the the perfect amount. Even adding light blue and white on the foot to show that it is in the splash. Also with the light brown tone near the bottom of the painting to show a reflection. What I wish I could've better done the toes, in my painting is suppose to show the bottom of the feet and I did not show that as well as I would of liked to.
